Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt is one of those foods that I had put off for a long time. Now, I have seen it in so many recipes across pinterest and other websites, but always thought in my head “well thats what cream cheese is for” or “I will just use sour cream” but I was wrong, so wrong.
One day I decided to try a recipe a co-worker of mine insisted on, which was a veggie dip made with Greek yogurt. She told me you would never know the difference and it has so much less fat than sour cream. I was positive I would notice the difference but guess what… I didn’t. It was delicious and now is a normal substitute to sour cream in my household!
Greek yogurt is full of great benefits as well. As I was pondering over this apple dip I decided to do a little research as well. The main thing Greek yogurt has is protein, we need protein in our daily diets, according to HealthLine protein helps your body to build muscle, bones, hair, skin, as well as offing up more energy! You will also receive some of your daily vitamins by eating Greek yogurt such as potassium, calcium, and B-12! Now that’s a lot packed into an easy snack (that tastes like a dessert)!
All-Around Awesome Fruit Dip
Another perk of this peanut butter yogurt dip is that you do not have to limit it to just apples, you could use any fruit you desire. Strawberries and grapes are other awesome fruits to have with this dip you could even eat it with pretzels or your favorite crackers.
This would be a total crowd-pleaser as well. It would be perfect as a snacking dip for a party or get-together and can be made in advance to keep you not as busy the day of your party. Kids will love this dip as well! It resembles the taste of cookie dough but with way fewer calories and better ingredients!
Chunky or Smooth Peanut Butter?
So in my household, I’m a chunky peanut butter lover, so I rarely have smooth peanut butter in my house. For this recipe, I used chunky peanut butter and personally I think it worked great with the crushed walnuts I put into the dip. You could absolutely use smooth peanut butter as well, I just had the chunky on hand.
Yogurt Apple Dip, Perfect For Fall
With the change of seasons fastly approaching here in the midwest, we will soon be tempted to visit our favorite apple orchards. One of the things I love about fall is also how you can start adding more diversity to your regular dinner menu. Baking bread, cookies, muffins, and more you will be looking for a healthier snack with fewer calories! Plus after visiting your favorite apple orchards you going to need another recipe for your apples! The apples I used for this were both Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples.
