Higson’s Farm

While Higson’s Farm is open every Sunday-Friday throughout the year, there’s a special event in October that is fun for the whole family!
Bring your family and friends and head on out to Higson’s Farm’s October Fest!
Early in the month of October, October Fest is a day to celebrate all things farm. There’s face painters, sweets and treats, and hundreds of perfect pumpkins to choose from.
Make sure to pick up a gorgeous pot of mums before you leave, too!
Old McDonald’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze
Inwood, West Virginia
Old McDonald’s Pumpkin Patch in West Virginia is also home to an incredible corn maze you’ve got to see to believe.
Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, starting the last weekend of September, head on out to Old McDonald’s for all kinds of fall fun. Wander through the fields to pick your very own pumpkin, cuddle up with some snuggly pigs, and browse all the other fall goodies offered for purchase.
If a normal corn maze, included in price of admission during the day, isn’t enough of a challenge, you can also visit at night! From 7:00pm-10:00pm you can give the corn maze a go in the dark.
Make sure to bring a camera to snap some pictures at all of their great photo background opportunities.
Orr’s Farm Market
Martinsburg, West Virginia
If you’ve got younger kids, Orr’s Farm Market is the pumpkin patch in West Virginia that you need to be visiting!
From September 9-November 5, school groups and preschoolers can visit a “Spookley the Square Pumpkin” themed patch.
For school groups, there’s a curated tour that is both fun and educational! They’ll go to apple school, bee school, & pumpkin school, get a garden tour, and have some play time at the Animals and Farmer Playground!
Pre-K days are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and an opportunity for parents to bring little ones to enjoy tractor rides, a petting zoo, choosing their own pumpkin, and shopping at the farm market.

Town and Country Nursery
Kearneysville, West Virginia
This small, family-owned and operated pumpkin patch in West Virginia is a charming place to get everything you need to turn your home and garden into your own fall paradise.
Town and Country Nursery offers pumpkins and gourdes of every shape and color, along with a ton of other seasonal produce like apples and cabbage. There are also beautiful mums and Indian corn available for purchase.
If you want to go out into the patch to pick your own pumpkin, that’s an option as well!
Town and Country Nursery is open every day but Tuesday from 10:00am-5:00pm.
Southern West Virginia Pumpkin Patches
Okes Family Farm
Cool Ridge, West Virginia
Starting September 17, Okes Family Farm will be open every Saturday, Sunday, and Thursday for a lot of pumpkin-themed fun.
A flat rate of $10 will get you entry to all of their attractions, like a train, corn maze, and fun fall games. Pumpkins are available at an additional rate, and price varies based on their size and weight.
This West Virginia pumpkin patch also offers something very unique— Witches Night! WIth one night for mothers and daughters and another for adults only, this is a chance to have fun with all things spooky.
Each ticket includes everything you need to make your own broom as well as professional photography. Come one our in your best witch-y dress and challenge yourself to Okes Family Farm’s corn maze lit only by torches. It’ll be a night you won’t forget!
Sunset View Farms
Ballard, West Virginia
Sunset View Farms is a pumpkin patch in West Virginia that loves partnering with churches and other local organizations to bring fall fun to everyone in the Ballard community.
They offer group discounts for people wanting to experience everything they have to offer together.
A flat entrance fee will include a ton of activities. You can choose from their corn maze. duck races, hay bale maze, barrel train, barnyard basketball, a tire playground, and much more fun!
You can also pay a small additional fee to shoot little pumpkins out of an air cannon. If that doesn’t say “fall fun,” we’re not sure what does!
While you’re there, make sure to vote on your favorite decorated haybale in the “Battle of the Bales! In years past, entries have included hay bales decorated as butterflies in a net and even a mini-camper.
Sunset View Farms is open every Saturday and Sunday from the last weekend of September, through Halloween.
Western West Virginia Pumpkin Patches
Butcher Family Farm
Washington, West Virginia
Among pumpkin patches in West Virginia, few are more beautiful than Butcher Family Farm.
Alongside the big, beefy pumpkins ready to be taken home and decorated, there are flowers as far as your eye can see.
A lot of the flowers are for sale, but there are many incorporated into amazing photo opportunities. One of which is called Mum Wall and features red, orange, yellow, and pink mums stacked on top of each other, towering over the heads of most visitors.
There’s also a nearby “pumpkin tree” that you’ll want to make sure to grab a photo in front of, too.
Alongside the pumpkins and mums, you can also purchase pansies and celosia to decorate your home and garden for the season.
On select weekends, there’s also a petting zoo with goats, camels, and other animals to pet.
Butcher Family Farm is open every Saturday and Sunday of the fall season.
Chandler Pumpkin Farm
Elkview, West Virginia
Chandler Pumpkin Farm is a relatively new pumpkin patch in West Virginia that provides a lot of family fun at a very reasonable price.
For just $7, you have access to all the activities they offer. Some of their more unique offerings include apple sling shots, stick horse barrel racing, calf roping, archery, and magic bubbles.
Their pumpkins are also incredibly affordable. They range in price from $3 to just $10! It’s hard to beat prices like that, especially at a pumpkin patch full of fun!
Kids 2 and under are free and there’s food available for purchase every weekend, so you can make a whole day out of your visit!
Gritts Farm
Buffalo, West Virginia
A local landmark since the 1920s, Gritts Farm is a pumpkin patch in West Virginia that knows how to have fun! They take pride in their fresh produce grown responsibly and love sharing it with the community.
Every day from September 17-October 30, Gritts Fun Farm is ready to welcome their guests to a ton of fall-related activities and games.
Some of the attractions that set them apart from other pumpkin patches in West Virginia are Slide Mountain, a rope maze, and Bunnyville. Jr. Corn Maze is also a great addition for younger guests who want to gain a little bit of independence. They can test their skills out on the Jr. Corn Maze instead of getting lost in the big one!
There are also plenty of playgrounds and things for kids to climb, as well as delicious and nutritious food available for purchase.
Kenova Pumpkin House
Kenova, West Virginia
While it’s not a classic pumpkin patch, we’d be remiss if we didn’t include the world-famous Kenova Pumpkin House in our list of pumpkin patches in West Virginia, because you don’t want to miss this!
In 1978, the owners of what would become known as the Kenova Pumpkin House simply set out four carved pumpkins on their porch, one for each member of the family.
Now, just 43 years later, the number has grown to be 3,000 hand-carved pumpkins displayed outside the house. There’s no real reason why the owner decided to make it such a spectacle, besides the fact people loved it.
Every year, more and more people would come, so every year, more and more pumpkins were carved!
Now, it’s a part of an entire festival, C-K Autumn Fest, that’s across a few different towns.
Pick up a pumpkin from one of the vendors at the Festival and then head over to the Kenova Pumpkin House for some carving inspiration.
