Not only is Sinkland Farms located in one of the most gorgeous parts of Virginia, but it’s also clearly the place to be during pumpkin season!  Owner Susan Sink has drawn upon her years of experience in marketing and fundraising to make the festival what it is today.

Originally founded as a dairy farm in the 1890s, Sinkland’s Pumpkin Festival has been delighting visitors for more than 30 years. It’s also earned Virginia Tourism’s #1 rating for fall fun in the state.  We think you’ll see why this six-weekend event (from late September through October) is not to be missed.

Each weekend brings a different lineup of activities, so it’s worth making repeat trips to see what’s new.  What’s certain is there are plenty of things to do and see that appeal to adults and kids alike.

Various performers, artists, and craftsmen are on hand to entertain, educate, and impress.  You’ll want to be sure to check out:

  • Ed Kirkman’s pumpkin art
  • Mark Petersen’s on-demand typewriter poems
  • Blacksmith demonstrations
  • Live musicians
  • A living scarecrow
  • Pumpkintron (aka., Jesse Johnson, for you ANW fans)

For kids, there’s a Kidz zone with activities to help youngsters blow off steam, such as zip lines and a giant slide.  There are also barrel train rides, hayrides, and face painting.

For horse-lovers, there are rides around the farm on rescue horses, as well as ponies for the little riders.

Some of the other attractions include a mechanical bull, axe-throwing, pig races, rocket launches, a sunflower field, arts and crafts vendors, food trucks offering a wide array of fall favorites, craft beer and wine, and (of course) pumpkins.

We hope you’re getting the picture that a visit to Sinkland Farms is an absolute must this fall!
