How to Infuse Your Own Cucumber Vodka

Making your own cucumber vodka at home ensures that you get the perfect flavor you’re looking for. Plus, it’s super easy!

When purchasing vodka to infuse, the choice is ultimately up to you. Cheaper vodkas will taste just that – cheap. However, top-shelf vodkas can be expensive and contain special flavor notes that will be overtaken by the taste of cucumber. Middle-shelf vodkas are a good compromise!

Vodkas infused with flavors, including cucumber.

To make your own cucumber vodka, you will need:

  • One bottle of vodka
  • 1 large cucumber

Steps

  1. Cut the ends off your cucumber and remove the skin – cucumber skin can give the vodka an unpleasant bitter taste if not removed! Slice the cucumber in half and use a spoon to remove the watery seeds.
  2. Chop your cucumber into small slices that will easily fit into the bottle. Keep in mind that adding cucumbers to your vodka will cause the volume to rise. You may infuse vodka in its original container, or opt for a sealable jar if you’d prefer. The more cucumbers in your vodka, the stronger the flavor will be!
  3. Place your cucumber slices into your container and tightly seal the lid. Cucumbers may be infused for 3 to 14 days. The longer they infuse, the stronger your flavor will be. Gently swirl your bottle once a day to help with the infusion process.
  4. After your vodka has reached the desired flavor, strain your vodka and either discard or eat the now-pickled cucumbers.
  5. Cucumber vodka can be stored for a long time, as the alcohol prevents mold and bacteria from growing. Store your cucumber vodka as you would any other alcohol, and enjoy!

How to Make Your Own Simple Syrup

Some of the following cucumber vodka drinks call for the use of simple syrup. Don’t worry, simple syrup is super easy to make at home and requires just two ingredients!

  3. Pour your simple syrup into a glass jar and tightly seal the lid. Simple syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one month.
